Zapatos de comunión 2027: cómo elegir el modelo para niña y niño

2027 Communion shoes: how to choose the right style for girls and boys

2027 communion shoes must do two things at once: match the dress or suit, and hold up for ten hours on foot without causing blisters. For girls, the ones that best achieve both are Mary Janes and ribbon ballet flats in leather or suede. For boys, loafers and espadrille or linen bluchers. At Pasitrote, we have spent our whole lives dressing children's feet for communion, so here we explain the styles, the colors of the season, how to get the size right, and when it is best to buy them.

Which shoe to choose for each case

If you are in a hurry, this summary will help you make 80% of the decision.

If you have Choose Why
Classic dress with lots of detail Plain leather or suede Mary Janes They don't compete with the dress and provide good foot support
Flowy or simple dress Ballet flats with matching ribbons They add the detail that the outfit is missing
June or outdoor communion Espadrilles or jute Mary Janes Fresh, light, and with a non-slip sole
Sailor or admiral suit Navy blue or white loafers Follows the suit's code without clashing
Linen or lightweight suit Linen bluchers or espadrilles Same family of materials
Boy who hasn't worn laces Velcro or elastic model He can put them on and take them off by himself

First of all, look at the dress or suit

The correct order is dress first and shoe second; it’s the one that causes the least trouble. The dress or suit determines the color, and color narrows down the catalog by half in two minutes. Doing it backwards almost never works: you find some beautiful shoes, buy them, and then it turns out the dress is ivory while the shoes are optical white. It shows, and it especially shows in the photos.

With the color decided, the next step is to think about what the day will be like. An April communion in the north and one at the end of June in Andalusia do not call for the same shoe, even if the dress is identical.

What is trending this season

The underlying trend for 2027 communion shoes is the reusable shoe. Almost no one is looking for single-use footwear anymore. You tell us often: "let them be able to use them later for their aunt's wedding." And that is reflected in three things.

2027 trends for girls

For girls, color has gained ground over white, and pastel tones dominate the catalog.

  • Water green, pale pink, and dusty blue have taken up much of the season. Ivory still works, but it no longer rules alone.
  • Interchangeable straps and bows. The same shoe with two sets of fasteners provides two looks: one for church and one for the banquet.
  • Flat heels and round lasts. No height boosters. At seven in the evening, that girl will be running around with her cousins.

2027 trends for boys

For boys, navy blue and beige have replaced black, except for the most formal suits.

  • Jute and linen for communions at the end of June when the heat is at its peak.
  • Flexible leather and leather lining. The real problem on communion day is not the design, it's sweat.
  • A real-grip sole, as church floors are more slippery than they look.

Something that matters to us in both collections: at Pasitrote, everything is handcrafted in Spain, with nappa leather or sheepskin suede, padded leather insoles and lining, and a Toflex or jute outsole on non-slip rubber. The communion collection ranges between 45 and 70 euros. That is what allows a child to wear a new shoe in the morning and not have to take it off in the mid-afternoon.

2027 girls' communion shoes, style by style

We have three families, each suited to a different type of day.

Mary Janes

Mary Janes are the classic communion shoe we sell the most, and the safest of the four. The strap across the instep truly holds the foot in place, so it is what we recommend when the girl will be standing for a long time or when she has a narrow foot. You can find them with buckles, laces, or Velcro in communion Mary Janes.

Ribbon ballet flats

Ballet flats are the option for when the dress is simple and you want the shoe to contribute something. Communion ballet flats with removable elastic ribbons adjust to the ankle without squeezing, and work especially well with tulle or flowy dresses. If the model has interchangeable bows and straps, you have two pairs of shoes for the price of one.

Espadrilles and jute Mary Janes

Jute is our recommendation for communions in May and June, or when the celebration is in a garden. Communion espadrilles are hand-sewn in linen with a jute base. They maintain the ceremonial look as long as the rest of the outfit is understated.

Style Support Good for Reusable for
Mary Janes High Long day, narrow foot Ceremonies and school
Ribbon ballet flats Medium-high Simple or tulle dresses Weddings and parties
Jute espadrilles Medium June communions, outdoors All summer long

The colors we are asked for most for 2027

These are the five colors of communion shoes that leave our store most often, in order.

  • Water green and sage green. The one that has grown the most and that you ask us about the most. Works with white and ivory dresses. You can find them all in water green communion shoes.
  • Pale pink and dusty pink. The classic that never fails. Softens very structured dresses. Here: pink communion shoes.
  • Dusty blue. Halfway between a color and a neutral, and the one that is best utilized in autumn. In blue communion shoes.
  • Off-white and ivory. The safe bet when the dress is lace or has a lot of detail: white communion shoes.
  • Gold and tan. The season’s wild card. Matches any dress and won't stay in the closet.

A rule that will always serve you: if the dress has a lot of detail, choose neutral shoes; if the dress is simple, let the shoes stand out. And if you are torn between two colors, stick with the one the girl can wear again in September.

2027 boys' communion shoes and how to combine them with the suit

For boys, the catalog is shorter, and the decision almost always depends on the suit.

Loafers

The loafer is the most requested boy's communion shoe. It goes with any suit, goes on without laces, and in navy blue suede or leather, it is the most popular style this season. They are in boys' loafers.

Espadrilles and linen or jute bluchers

For linen suits and June celebrations, the espadrille wins for comfort. Boys' espadrilles are hand-sewn in linen, with a padded leather insole and a jute base on a rubber sole. It is arguably the most comfortable thing you can wear for a whole day.

Which shoe goes with each suit

  • Sailor suit: navy blue or white loafers. Never brown.
  • Admiral suit: navy blue bluchers or loafers, matching the buttons.
  • Linen or light fabric suit: natural or beige espadrilles or jute bluchers.

If he is also acting as a page boy or ring bearer in another ceremony that same season, take a look at shoes for ring bearers. Many models work for both.

How to get the size right

The correct size leaves between half a centimeter and one centimeter in front of the longest toe. It is where we see the most changes every spring, so we insist on four things.

  1. Measure the foot in the afternoon, with the child standing and the weight distributed. In the morning, the foot measures less and the size will be too small.
  2. Leave that 0.5 to 1 cm margin. Less, and in three months, it won't fit. More, and the foot will slide around inside the shoe.
  3. Try them on with the socks you plan to wear. There is a half-size difference between a thin dress sock and a thick cotton one.
  4. Keep the last in mind. A narrow foot is better suited to a lace-up closure for better adjustment.

In our size guide, you have the generic equivalence in centimeters for each number. And within each model, you will find the specific size guide. If the foot is right between two sizes and the communion is in June, go with the larger one.

When to buy communion shoes

The best time is February and March, between six and eight weeks before the ceremony.

When What to do
December and January Choose the dress or suit. Not the shoes yet, the foot will grow.
February and March The best window. Full catalog, all sizes, and plenty of time for an exchange.
Three weeks before Last reasonable call. Check the stock of your size before falling in love with a model.
The week before Wear them at home for an hour a day, with the final socks.

The most sought-after models of each color sell out first in the middle sizes, between 32 and 38. If your daughter or son is in that range, don't wait until April.

What we check before recommending a shoe

These are the seven checks we perform on each model before including it in the communion collection.

  1. That the sole is flexible.
  2. That the base is non-slip and provides grip. Church floors and wet tiles are more slippery than they look.
  3. That the insole is made of leather and is padded.
  4. That the interior lining is not synthetic.
  5. That there are no seams pressed against the heel or the edge of the instep.
  6. That the closure adjusts properly. If the foot moves inside, it will cause rubbing.
  7. That the child can put them on and take them off by themselves.

And shoes for mom and siblings

Communion is also a long day for adults, and the common mistake is wearing brand-new heels. For mom, wedge espadrilles provide height without punishing the foot during the meal, and women's ballet flats are the perfect replacement for the end of the day. If there are younger siblings in the ceremony, in girls' ceremony shoes and boys' ceremony shoes you will find matching models in smaller sizes.

The five mistakes we see every year

  1. Buying the shoes before the dress. The dress determines the color. Doing it the other way around rarely fits.
  2. Wearing them for the first time on the day of. With a week of breaking them in at home, they adapt better.
  3. Choosing a larger size "to make them last." A loose shoe rubs more than one that fits correctly.
  4. Forgetting about the weather. Closed leather shoes at a late June communion mean a whole afternoon of soaked socks.
  5. Leaving it for April. Middle sizes fly off the shelves, and then exchanging them becomes complicated.

Questions you always ask us

What color should communion shoes be?

There is no rule that says so. Off-white and ivory are traditional, but dusty tones (water green, pale pink, dusty blue) and gold are just as accepted and are used much more afterwards. For boys, navy blue and beige have replaced black in most suits.

How far in advance do I need to buy them?

Between eight and twelve weeks before the ceremony. That is the timeframe that gives you the complete catalog, time to change sizes if necessary, and a week to break them in at home.

Which is more comfortable, Mary Janes or ballet flats?

Both are extremely comfortable. The Mary Jane with the strap across the instep is better for a narrow foot. The ballet flat with the elastic lace is lighter and adapts better to a foot with a high instep.

Can you wear espadrilles to a first communion?

Yes, and more so every year, especially for communions in May and June or when the celebration is outdoors. It is enough that the style is sober and matches the dress or suit.

What shoes go with a sailor suit?

Navy blue loafers or jute bluchers in linen or taupe if the suit is very light. Brown disrupts the ensemble.

Should I go up half a size so they last longer?

Half a size, yes, if the foot is between two sizes or if the communion is in June. A whole size, no. The foot moves inside the shoe and blisters appear.

Are communion shoes useful afterwards?

Yes, every model is designed for further use. For example, our ballet flats with detachable ribbons can be worn later as classic ballet flats without ribbons.

How can I prevent them from getting chafing that day?

Have them wear them for an hour a day the week before, with the socks they are going to wear, and choose a style with a leather lining and insole.
